I got a fat doe last friday morning. Hunting over a standing corn field can be a challenge sometimes, thats for sure, but dont give up, seems like the corn is always down by the time gun season opens. I didnt make it out today, I got up at 6 a.m. and there was no rain, wind wasnt too bad, but by 7:15 it was raining and the wind had really picked up here. I dont mind sittin in a little rain...but when the wind is rippin I just stay home. Suppossed to be better weather tomorrow though, so I'll be out there in the stand waiting for #2 for the year to come strollin by.

Wind is a great time to walk the rows of corn and hunt those big boys...They're in the corn, go after em...I love still hunting corn fields...especially this year...seems like there are many bare spots in the middle of corn fields this year..makes for good stalking..

Wasn't any activity here until the wind laid down about 6:30 tonight, then everything came out. Had one across the field beyond my property. Been spotty so far this year.

Even if the deer are in the corn, they have to drink water a couple times a day...where are they getting thier water? Creek nearby, ditch in a waterway inside th corn?....Find the water , or a big oak tree with acorns, look around under it, if there are acorns all over the ground under that tree set up there. They will come out of the corn to eat some acorns periodically if it's on the edge of corn...not just any oak tree, but one that has dropped many acorns, easy access from the corn and water nearby...If you can find this setup you'll be in an excellent spot...

Little bucks are still frisky. Give it one more week and look out.

I have hunted everyday. I have killed 3 does so far. No big bucks seen. Started seeing smaller bucks the last couple of weeks.
