how many of you guys move your stand during season. I feel i need to move a couple of my stand to get in better location like where i see the deer all the time and i was just wondering who all feels comfortable moving there stand during the season.. i don't have a climber so that is not an options. If you don't mind what times do you like to do it like around noon.

I try not to move my stand once its up...but, on the rare occasions that I have felt impelled to do so I would definately wait until noon or so to do it. But, that still doesnt promise that you wont get busted, especially if your moving into a bedding spot or unfamiliar territory. Slow, and quiet as possible is a good idea. Hope this helps, good luck.

deer movement changes throughout the season..I try to locate my stands in funnels, saddles etc..look more for terrian features...find a good funnel..When the rut kicks in you'll be in a prime spot...I wouldn't worry about moving the stand, do it during midday and try to hang it in 30 minutes and get out...maybe an hour at most.

It's best to move your stand when the deer are somewhere else. That could vary depending upon the setup.
I think it can be good to move stands even 50-100 yds. Deer do learn stand locations after a few seasons and shift their movements accordingly.

Back when I used to bowhunt, I used to move stands, all the time. Sometimes I would put only 1 stand up before deer season, then do midday scouting, and throw one up. When I did that, I'd get in that stand the same evening it went up. Went 4-5 yrs. in a row, where I'd have a buck or doe down the same day the stand went up.

Same here as maddog... But what I do is just stick up a different stand. Helps to have plenty of stands. But I have also found that if you do this and you can still see your other stand. Never fails that a buck will walk under it while your in the new one.... Had a really nice 8pt make a scrape and rub right under my tree stand one night and another morning had a 12pt and a bigger buck with two droptines walk under my other stand. But that's the way it works for me. I have killed at least 3 nice deer after moving though. And yes for me around noon works best. I'm putting two new stands up this weekend. and that will be the time I do it. BB

I have moved my stands many many times. If at all possable wait until late morning or early afternoon. From 11:00 to 2:30. If you aren't where the deer are then move.

When you consider that virtually all of the major hunting Pro Staff guys are showing up at some farm and putting up blinds or hangers when they start hunting a location, and they have success, I don't think it matters one way or the other if you move stands during the season... as said, mid-day, get in and out quiet and scent free and go for it...

Very seldom do I ever hunt out of the same tree with my Summit climber. I move around a lot this time of the year.

I don't move my stand that often during the season, but I do in August. I find that when I move the stand to the location I've been seeing the deer they will move back to the original position of the stand. Give it some time and they will move back your way, and with the rut in a couple week they will be running all over.
