Sunday morning @ 6:45AM two big boys went at it off & on for 1/2 an hour. At one point they were only about 50 yards away but it was too dark & too thick to see em. Three other deer moved in to check-out the action. When the two studs turned it up a notch slinging leaves, top soil, & breaking down saplings the 3 high-tailed it otta there. It was the distinct thunks of big heavy antlers banging together & meshing as they leveraged for position. As soon as it started getting light they moved on thru the thicket banging heads every 15 to 20 seconds. I did some rattling after it got light enough for a shot in case one or both were bedded in the immediate area. Nothing! When I got down from stand @ noon I went up to the briar & sapling thicket to survey scene. Man it looked like someone had torn-up a 50'-60' area with a tiller & a bush-hog... Hopefully I will get a shot at one of these brutes!!!!!!

Man!
If that doesn't get a deer hunter excited, nothing will.
Good morning for you.

I wonder if those deer were so distracted fighting that you could have closed the distance, and maybe got a shot once it was light.
Once while rabbit hunting, I walked up on 2 tom turkeys doing battle. Walked right up within less than 5 yards. As soon as one bird would let go to run off, the other would latch onto his neck and the fight was on again.

They were 10' on the other side of the property line fence. The other property is strictly off-limits to hunters.....

Seen two bucks running together today. I'm sure they won't remain that way for much longer.
