I left my bow in an unheated shed for years. Can't say that it hurt it's performance any but like Decatur said it is probably better on the parts to keep it in a semi-conditioned room of some type.
Not sure that your bow being in the house while you smoke is going to change anything as far as scent control either. Keep it covered and in a closet. If it is absorbing too much odor just think what is oozing out of your skin and breath. Or make everyone smoke outside.

Fred Bear was a smoker and he did pretty good, but the cigs did him in at the end. He had one in his lip when he autographed a picture for me back in the 70's at a Clinton IN Bowhunter Nationals shoot.

He'd done much better more than likely without them..Probably would have got another 10-15 years to bowhunt..nothing good to say about cigarettes, seen to many friends and family die of Lung cancer.....not a pretty sight..

Let me tell you........as a person who smoked for 33 years (7 months smoke free now).......anything you own smells like an ashtray.
My wife and I are always finding things that we own that still smell like an ashtray.
What I wonder is WHY didn't anyone tell me that I smelled like a ash tray when i was smoking........
Oh well.....I probabally would not have listened!
