Today was my 8th hunt since October 1st. Until now I had only seen 1 basket rack. He walked right under my stand a few weeks ago. In the last 7 or 8 yrs I would have seen 50-100 deer by now. It's just been that kind of a crazy year. Thank God my untin' buddies (whitetail1 and his son whitetailchaser22) have had more success. Wchsr22 even smoked his first doe with a bow as posted here. Don't get me wrong. I was starting to get a bit discouraged. But that's where my buddies encouragement helps. We new the deer were there. They were seeing a bunch. I wasn't seeing anything. I even rewashed my clothes twice, drug em through the dirt and packed em in leaves. Well, today the woods exploded with activity. Coyotes were howling first thing in the morning. I got to watch a barred hoot owl for 10 minutes or so, 23 yards from my stand. Then a forky chased this doe around the woods and eventually within 21 yards. That's when the brown met "muzzytown". She weighed 120 lbs. at the processor. Also thought it was a bit cool how she had a white patch under left eye as seen in the photo. (Sorry about the photo quality - took a quick pic with my phone while she was strapped to the hitchpacker). I got to watch another massive buck chase another doe far from my stand. What an awesome morning!
