Since my right hand is in a cast clear up past my elbow, i sat here and was thinking of ways i can fire a firearm. I havent tried it yet, but i "think" i can shoot my muzzy left handed, while using my cast as a rest. I'm hoping since my muzzy is fairly heavy there won't be alot of muzzle jump? Another thing that may be an issue is that im right eye dominant and i will be forced to use my left. Speaking of using my left eye, will the scope still be dead on as if i were shooting normal? Am i insane for trying this? Or just a typical redneck? I had planned on sitting with my son since i wasnt able to hunt, but he has informed me that he wants to sit alone I honestly dont think i can skip a year of hunting, even though it will be just one season. thanks in advance for your thoghts and ideas!

Only one way to find out if you're physically able. Try it.
As for the left eye thing, that makes no difference as far as the gun is concerend. In fact, I shoot deer left handed every now and then when necessary due to stand placement and how the shot is presented. It takes a little more concentration because it isn't second nature.
You may have trouble looking through the scope with your left eye. Some folks find they have to close their right eye or cover it with a patch.

I don't think that you'll have any problem if you have a good rest. I do think that a follow up shot would take a little longer. But then, with a muzzleloader, it's the first shot that counts anyway.
As oldhoyt said above, I'd have to close my right eye. My granddaughter (who will be hunting with me Saturday) is right handed and left eye dominant. She closes her left eye to shoot and it works well for her.
Good luck, and wear that "typical redneck" label proudly!

I have known a few guys shoot with the wrong eye and still make it work. Like oldhoyt I know a guy that would swap out shoulders if he had to. Another guy is lefty and shoots righty, he seems to do alright.
Take it out and shoot a few targets to make sure you can do it.

I practice left hand on purpose for those wonderful deer that might come in the wrong way. It will work out for you if you practice a bit. Just be careful of your arm! You might get a set of shooting sticks and hunt off the ground and forget resting on your arm. You probably have to hunt on the ground anyway with your arm like that. I close my right eye by the way. Works just fine.
