I've seen a few "one of a kind" treestands in my days afield and even been in some humdingers myself but this one that I stumbled into today takes the cake! Yep, that's two milk crates stacked with, I think, one of those old fixed back swiveling type boat seats, the kind you see in a two man type boat. Really nice foot rest too. It is sitting about 20 feet up, cannot fathom why the guy left such a fine stand there...

To top it off, it's an old Baker type that's been converted.

Suicide trap, I'll give him ammo if he wants to get in that thing, might as well shoot himself first would be less painful!

It's been there a while- look at the chain around the tree at the base of it. It's girdling the tree.
That's a doozy. Mark, just where did you run across this??

It's been there for awhile-the bottom retainer strap has girdled the tree and killed it. It doesn't have any bark left below the bottom bracket. "Death Trap" is the most fitting title I can think of for it!! Anybody trying to sit in it could very easily not only have the tree break at the girdled zone, but they would also end up with the rest of the tree top on them when they hit the ground...Hey I think saw something like on the Roadrunner cartoon!!!
Dumb de dumb dumb......

LOL, somehow that doesn't surprise me, knowing some of the backwoods rednecks in that area! Moose hunting prospects are much better than deer right now. I've at least *heard* a moose, which is more contact than I've had for deer... Moose tags, unfortunately though, are awarded on a draw system. Now, bear on the otherhand......... They are around, and the guy I work with has bear hounds so I'm hoping to get one next season. ;D

I need to take a pic of the one that is on the property I bought over the summer ..... it is a plastic/metal chair chained to a tree about 20' up. No platform ..... just a chair with some huuuge spike nails hammered into the tree to climb up.
Crazy people.
I didnt find a pile of bones at the base so I assume the previous owner of said "stand" is alive and well.

Yep, would stand on a limb before I got in that. Usually find at least one like that somewheres every year, always makes me scratch my head.
