By definition (mine at least) it cannot be done. Deer can be shot from the porch, but shooting from the porch is not hunting.

I would under the right circumstances..but rarely do I...One time in fact I did..late season, bonus tag in my pocket, pretty much done hunting for the year, gonna eat a tag, get home, walking in the house, big doe out by the woods feeding ( 100yards) behind the house ( backyard), go in get the muzzleloader, and dropped her from 80 yards, gutted, dressed and lived happily ever after....the end.

here a negative side of "hunting from the porch", picture this ,say i'm a indiana hunter safety instructor(and i'm not) and start the class of youngsters with "o.k. kids this year we are going to teach you how to hunt off your porch, no since in scouting, we don't even need a tree stand, and if you got some friends, bring them over, no problem ,its legal to hunt off the porch, no since packing a pack , we got every thing in the house, now mom not home right now ,she drive a red car ,so don't shoot til she gets in the house, its all legal. i don't know why a lot of hunters go all the way to the back of the woods when we can sit here and shoot from the porch. and maybe we can get dad to put in a food plot in , just twenty yards from the porch..get the picture!!!!!! some folks say this kind of hunting is a personal choice, we have to have good ethics involved in hunting or this sport of hunting that a lot of us today enjoy will fade away and i for one would not do anything that would hurt the sport we love... ..and i and many others want to pass down a tradition of sportmanship and dedication to all that would might start hunting and hunt in a safe manner. so let do the right thing and not hurt the sport we love, even though there a law says its legal to "hunt from the porch".......... ...........turkey scout

I also highly doubt you would pass a 150 or 160 if you had a chance, and if you could i admire you because you havealot more will power then i do.

3 years ago on Christmas Day around 10AM I had a beautiful 150 class 10 point eating persimmons and honeysuckles in my yard. I could have easily went out the front door and went to the back of the shed for a 20 yard shot with my son's crossbow or compound but didn't.

That is the difference between hunting and shooting. If you don't understand the difference then it is hard to explain. I don't think it is an age or generation thing. Some guys just have to shoot every legal animal they can just for the sake of shooting it. I know young old and inbetween that have that mentality.
For me it's like shooting at geese as they fly over the house. Sure I could take some shots and probably kill a few but man that just isn't my style. It sure the heck isn't hunting as I know it. It is shooting and once again I just don't need to shoot a goose that bad or any animal for that matter.
I would shoot one if in dire need for meat, but if I was in dire need for meat my hunting style would change dramatically too.

The state where my brother lives you cannot discharge a firearm within 500' of ANY residence or pubic road. I guess no porch huntin there. LOL

In NH it is only legal to discharge a firearm or bow within 300 feet of a permanently occupied residence IF you have permission from the owner of said residence. Could get tricky if you have a neighbor close by.
