Illinois man punished for illegal Nebraska deer killOMAHA, Neb. — An Illinois man who illegally killed a deer in Nebraska has been given two years of federal probation and has been barred from hunting during that time. A news release from U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says 34-year-old Jason Seaton of Grayville, Ill., also was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $1,000 restitution. Authorities say Seaton had arranged his 2006 trip through a Decatur, Neb., outfitter. Because area deer permits are limited, Seaton couldn't get one for where the outfitter's property was situated. Seaton instead got a permit for a nearby area, instead of paying more for a statewide permit. Authorities say he broke state law when he killed a deer, under the improper permit, then broke federal law when he took the carcass across state lines. www.courierpress.com/news/2009/dec/31/grayville-ill-man-punished-illegal-nebraska-deer-k/
