Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like this coyote done peed on the pile!!!!! Note the times on the trail cam pics, doesn't seem to scare, bother, or illicit a response from the deer? ?

I shot two coyotes one day close to the end of firearms season and then never saw the first deer in muzzleloader season. I had blamed it on me blasting those two yotes. I removed them the day I shot them to the middle of a hay field away from the woods. Guess I was wrong.

I had 3 deer in a small corner of a field during firearms season and a coyote came out about 20 yards from them. The deer hardly even looked at the coyote.

I once watched a coyote through a spotting scope sitting in a tree line, hungrily watching two deer feeding in corn stubble. Every few minutes, he'd screw up enough courage to charge out into the field and feint an attack. They commenced to kick him to death every time, sending him scurrying for the cover, tail between his legs as they calmly resumed their luncheon. This scenario repeated itself for almost an hour until the deer ate their fill. The coyote slunk off in the opposite direction, soundly defeated, settling for a dinner of field mice no doubt.

They have that wiley coyote out weighed by a 4:1 and 3:1 margin. One swift kick and he's in a world of hurt I would imagine.

A single coyote is not a real threat to an adult deer. An organized group of coyotes will send them running though. I have seen deer ignore single coyotes, but I have also seen a pair of coyotes working together running deer all over the country. We killed two coyotes in the process of working some deer like this one year.

If a deer avoided every place a coyote urinated they wouldn't be many places for them to go...A deer can decipher between the urine and the coyote itself...I've seen coyote walk the edges of fields where deer were feeding and didn't bother the deer a bit..coyote usually won't bother a full grown adult or even a yearling for that matter..a fawn is about their limit as far as predation..the coyote preys on smaller animals for the most part and the deer know that..not saying they won't run off when they see a coyote, but I don't beleive they're afraid to be eaten...I've observed some deer running off, and some don't seem to mind...and normally the coyote won't give a deer a second look, they usually wonder on by on a mission...oblivious to the deer feeding..
