Woody .... when was the last time the season came in on a saturday other than the current scheme?
Currently, you can phrase it multiple ways (first saturday after the 11 of November. first saturday after the second Tuesday. Second saturday after the first Tuesday) but the season always comes in on whichever saturday falls between the 12-18 of November. 12 being the earliest it will come in and the 18 being the latest.
Seems it has always been this way...... least as far back as I can remember.

Born in 1974 .... the earliest I remember is my dad always going deer hunting on my birthday (11/14). I knew the current scheme dated back a pretty good ways but I wasnt sure if it had always been that way.

The next 2 years should be really interesting as far as harvest numbers go. With firearm season coming in on the 13th and then the 12th we should be looking at record kills again and again.
Course that early november weather plays a huge part ..... I can remember several years sitting in a stand opening day in a short sleeve shirt ... sweating my butt off .... and not seeing the first deer.

The first few deer "seasons" were three days long and came in on a Thursday. No Sunday hunting until about 25 years ago.

I don't remember a 3 day season, but then I didn't start deer hunting until 1970. But I do remember not being able to hunt on Sunday. I can remember how odd it felt to be out there on a Sunday. There was almost nothing open on Sunday. Restaurants, movies, drugstore (few), some businesses started staying open in the 60's. Sears, Wards around Terre Haute.
