I was surprised that 29.4% of deer are tagged by LTL holders. Guess we are getting are moneys worth!

Between them and the landowners it is up to 46% of the deer kill. This is a two edged sword. The DNR doesn't make any more money off the LTL or landowners, but controlling the herd might be a bit more difficult if we didn't have the LTL and landowners.

best $300 my ex wife ever spent on me! That was a lot of money for us back in 86 but I have paid for mine many many times over. It also was responsible for me becoming a multiseason hunter. Before I got it I only bowhunted.

Before I got it I only bowhunted. I got mine in late 1987. The tags and LTL were due to go up in 1988 and so I bought ahead of that. Back then they used to mail you tags to you. That had to be expensive. Yes, the best "investment" I have ever made..

This will be the biggest problem with managing the herd in the future. The LTL holders do a great job of shooting multiple deer and reducing the herd in certain areas. When the number of LTL holders decreases significantly then there will be problems.

IMO, best thing a lifetime license holder can do is buy the resident hunting/fishing combined license every year if they desire to help Indiana game and non game species.

They will only cost $2.50 each. This is only for hunting and fishing. Not for deer of turkey tags.

Yeah, I feel terrible that I took the deal of the century when they lowered ltl hunting to $565, not. I still by my fishing every year. As far as land owners, they pay taxes and we are for the time being NOT a communist country.

I was never financially able to buy a LTL, but if I had, there is no way I would take to being forced to pay another cent!

Bought mine when it was in the 3C range, just before it went up to 500. Good investment, paying dividends every year, right on schedule.

And after you have done your taxes this spring, be sure and send in an extra 50 bucks to help out the Federal Government, they need the extra funding.

The state will be in much worse shape when no one has an LTL than they are now. My bet is most people by a buck and a doe tag tops and the LTL holders and landowners are the ones taking the bulk of the does. Once that stops no amount of funds will help the DNR manage the deer herd.
