You'll never know until you pattern it.

Is the chamber length marked on the barrel? If it is not I would take it to a gunsmith that can measure the length for you. Otherwise assume it is 2-3/4 chamber. 3" shells will chamber in a 2-3/4 barrel it is when you shoot it the problem occurs.

Of course it will kill a turkey. It's only a matter of finding out how far you can shoot. I'd imagine with a standard full choke, you'll be ok out to at least 25 yards, maybe 30. Buy some #5 or #6 2.75" turkey loads and try them out.
Since you killed your first deer with it, it would be great to get a turkey with it too. Just stick to your maximum effective range.

A better pattern will matter more with a smaller gauge shotgun...less shot going downrange for one. It doesn't mean you have to have expensive shells. Shoot the shells that pattern the best from your gun that you can afford.

I'd wouldn't shoot anything but 2-3/4" shells. Should be a good one. Put it on paper and see what it will do.I'd try several different brand of shells.I've shot Remington Nitros for years and they shoot real good, and are pretty cheap..Don't shoot heavy-shot through it,lead only, it probably isn't made for the kind of pressures you'll get from the magnum heavy loads.
