I just got my senior lifetime fishing license by point-of-sale at my local Rural King.
Anyone seen these things? They are printed on a sheet of regular paper, and are marked for the licensee to cut down to a mere 3 1/2 by 7 inch size!
What the heck do you do with a lifetime license like that?
In most fishing environments, there's water, often some mud, and the holder of the license will be handling some wet and slimy critters from the water or the baitbucket. The life expectancy of a sheet of ordinary paper is going to be about one handling, even if it doesn't rain and the angler hasn't fallen in or sat on a muddy creekbank for a while.
I suppose I could laminate the thing, but it says right on it that it's void if detached, so then I'd have a 3 1/2 x 7 laminated thing to carry with me.
Could keep it in the tackle box, I suppose, but that means that the box would have to be with me when wading the creeks.
To make it all even sillier, half the space is taken up by two large fields of X's and the lines for a hunter ed number and a HIP number (which would be different if the licensee was lucky enough to survive his first year of use and wanted to use the line for that info another year).
The needed info could easily have been condensed to a size that could have been printed on both sides of a card the size of a driver's license, and I'd have gladly paid another dollar for one that could be carried in the wallet. Or three more dollars if it came laminated like the DL.
Anyone know if such a USABLE license is actually available?
Just when ya think government couldn't get any stupider.....
