Here is a little How-To on collecting deer leg sinew. It can be used to back a bow with.
Here are a couple of legs off of my doe. I start at the dew claws and make a split all of the way up.
The sinew is the tendon that connects the dew claws to the muscles in the upper leg.
If you have cut the legs off of the deer already, you can pull the tendon out of the knee joint. If the leg is still on the deer, you will have to cut it. Pull it down, and cut it where it connects to the hoof. Here is what you get.
Then, you let them dry. I put these out in the sun for the day, and they are almost finished. They will turn an amber color and get hard after they dry. Don't leave them out where a dog can get to them. They will eat them like a stick of rawhide.
