I know the mains aren't long, but they do just about touch each other over the bridge of his nose. He's symeterical side to side. I know the pics aren't the best. Brow tines are about 5" long. He's about 1" or a bit more wider than his ears outside-outside. I passed on this one earlier in the season because I saw a much larger buck for about 15 seconds, but haven't seen him again and didn't have a good shot at that. This one was in my sights the 2nd day of ML season at 200 Yds and standing/feeding for about 10 minutes.

Looks to be a 4.5 yr old based on body. Difficult to get a real calculted guess without front veiw. But as a 8pt i would put him between 135-145 range. Look's like a mature buck, full face and shoulder's and mid-section filled out.

It's hard to say by the pictures what he would score, but If I was to guess it would be lower 130's. I don't think this deer is 4.5 years old, or at least his antlers are not what a typical 4.5 year old deer should have. I would say he's more like a 2.5 year old deer. If you are happy with him, drop the hammer. If not he sure will be a dandy next year.

I would guestimate about 5# of neck stew meat for vegetable soup or stew. 20 or so full size filets grilled, a pile of tips left over from back straps that could be shaved for phillies or fajitas 35# +_ of hamburger, two delicious tenderloins, two butt roasts that could serve as some fresh jerky. four nice sized roasts served with mushroom soup and yukon golds from the crock pot. over all I would rank it as around 3 months worth of better than beef substitute.

I was going to say pushing 140 but you guys are probably right with it being closer to 130. The mains are short. I'm going with him being a 3.5yr old.

130 +/- since it appears to be an 8 pt.

I was thinking that he was a younger deer, relatively speaking, no pot belly and it's back is still pretty straight.
The pics were taken last week, I can't change the date/time on the trail cam 'cause the LCD screen crapped out. They want more to fix it than a new one costs, so as long as it's still taking pics I use it over scrapes.
I'd like to let it go 'till next year, but since the property is only 75 ac, and all the surrounding woods is hunted, I don't know if he'll make it.
There's an even bigger bodied spindly racked 5 point that might end up on the back of the ATV this year. We'll see how the rest of ML season plays out.

4 1/2 yrs old. Long tines and good mass! 12" G2's 11" G3's 5" Brows, 17" spread, 21" Beams, 5" H1, 4" H2, 4" H3. Will gross around 140"! Would look awesome on the wall. But kuddos to you if you give him another year. Unbelieveable the difference 1 year can make in 4 1/2 yr old bucks rack. Has potential to be a 10 pt 160 class next year!

Only one way to settle this. (SHOOT HIM) Get him scored and aged. You'll be the winner of the prize for sure. Good luck.

Well, I have the feeling that he'll survive until next year for sure. The deer habits really changed in the last week, and I'm seeing a larger bodied spindly racked 5 point more and more, and none of the bucks that I've been seeing all season. If I get the chance, I'll drop him. He busted me from 163 yds yesterday afternoon, so I need to be a bit more careful. Stupid mistake, and I know better, but I thought I could get away with it. Nope!

Not a chance! This deer hasn't hit its prime yet. A mature deer, yes. But an old, degenerating deer, no. I hope you get him next year or at least get some pics of him, so we can see what he becomes!

Well, if he dies before next year it won't be from my hands. I think I'm done for the year. I got 2 antlerless yesterday, so I might go out behind the house during late archery, but I don't think I'll be hunting that property - too hard to hunt from the ground for archery.
