I have been lucky to take a bird without having to hunt in the rain however it appears that opening morning it will be raining. How does rain effect the birds?

From my experience, the birds will goto the fields (I believe it has somthing to do with the noise inside the canapy when it rains, since a Turkeys only protection is its eyesight and its hearing) If it stops raining, they'll be struttin their tails off tryin to land that special lady before it starts again. Yer best betis to go get a blind, set up on the edge of a field, and stay relativly comfortable, they'll be there. No matter what the weather Turkeys are still Turkeys, they'll still do their thing reguardless, just dont expect a lot of gobbling and possibly a later fly-down than usual. Good Luck

If it's raining prior to sunrise, I'd go straight to the fields....get set up EARLY so you don't bump any that are roosting on the field edges. Also, if it was raining the afternoon before at sundown, I'd look for the birds to be right on the field edges on the roost rather than further back into the woods.
