I normally hunt alone by choice and I am not into having animals mounted, just the memories are good enough for me. Last week my neighbor and local trapper who traps my marsh told me he had permission to turkey hunt on the same piece of property I was going to hunt. He was nice enough to tell me that he would hold off till I got my bird. I suggested we hunt together to which he agreed. We scouted the birds every day and knew their patterns. We choose a spot and cleared an area for our setup. Opening day we got rained out so this morning we met at 4:30. This fellow who I knew was a good ethical hunter told me he has never taken a turkey so size didn't matter. We got set up and were entertained by snorting deer and snarling raccoons till about 5:35 when the birds started flying down and talkin. From our right a small Jake ran into our decoys and I told him to take that bird if he wanted. Just then 2 nice young toms walked up from the right at 20 yards, we agreed to shoot our side, the slow 1-2-3 count was given and we scored a double. The best part was for the next 3 mins. that small Jake started fighting with the fallen birds and to our surprise there were several other turkeys running in to join the fight. Now the birds we took were not big, both weighing in at approx. 15lbs.each with 5" beards, but here is the best part. This man got his first turkey, I was part of a double play and we both have memory's of this hunt that will last a lifetime
