All I can say is I'm so glad that my good hunting buddy talked me into one more bow hunt this morning! I was all packed and ready to head to Missouri this weekend for opening of rifle season and my buddy wanted to get in one more bow hunt here in Indiana, right before I leave tomorrow for Missouri! It started with two real nice 8 pointers coming in at 7am and 8am respectively with noses to the ground on the trail of a hot doe that must have come through during the night in my real thick set up on my farm in Clay County Indiana! We had a west wind and all the bucks were coming in to the thicket up wind from me, so I felt pretty good about the set up-so far! But I was very limited on my shooting lanes and my max. shot was only going to be 20 yards in any one direction-very tight area. I did an aggressive rattling sequence and some grunting with my mouth at about 8:15am after the second 8 pointer came and went through with no shot opportunity and then at about 8:30am I heard a huge crash and commotion out in front of me and then I saw this very nice 11 pointer heading my direction and his nose to the ground as well and having a terrible time trying to get his large head gear through the thicket. He passed to my left at about 11 yards and I let my Muzzy payload go and hit him perfect! He went about 50 yards and then fell over within sight of my stand!!!! My season was now over in Indiana, but I was just amazed at the size of this buck, as I had never seen him before on my farm and didn't have one trail cam picture of him in the past year??? My biggest bow kill in 35+ years of bow hunting!! Oh what a special day, shared with my hunting buddy and family and friends!! I love this time of the year!!
