Well it happen's to us all. Can't believe it happened to me with a gun. Shot a 150 class buck last night. 45 yard's quarteing away put cross hair's on back rib and pulled the trigger. BAM buck spin's toward's me and run's over ridge top. The doe he's with run's to 20 yard's of me turn's broadside so BAM she turn's runs up hill. NICE a double kill. I get down go to where I shot doe can't find blood. Go to where I shot buck find a few small drop's. I thought I heard doe go down so I walk in that direction and sure enough find her piled out within 40 yard's double lung shot. Go back to where I shot buck and start looking again. No hair few small drop's of blood so walk in direction he went. NOTHING searched for hour last night and another hour or so this morning. NOTHING. I can't believe it. Played the situation through my mind a 1000 time's and can't figure out what happened. I blew it. I hunted my butt off bow season ,passed on over 20 different buck's only to get my chance at a shooter and bolw it. (Tough pill to swallow.) I can only hope that I grazed the buck and that he will live for another day. I'M just plan sick today. Guess I'll take a couple day's off and regroup.

I shot a buck last year w/ a muzzleloader, quartering away. The bullet entered right behind the diaghram, hit the liver, the heart, the far lung, and was stopped by the far shoulder. Tracked him in the snow 70 yards before i found the first drop of blood, and then he was piled up w/ in 20 yds. If you can get out again today and look for him, do it.

The buck I shot posted in "buddies tag" I shot a lil far back. got liver an the bottom of 1 lung. he went about 200 yards. I tracked mainly turned over leafs an track marks. I thought I heard he crash so i was sure id find him. I found only one drop of blood. unitl 20 yards before I found him. Several deer Ive shot, probably 10 deer with my 44 I found little to no blood.

We gave up search. Consesus is flesh wound. Hard to beleive but just his reaction and the lack of blood and hair. (Hopefully he will be ok.) Washed up gear and checked doe in. Will be back out to redeem myself mid week

Good Luck buddy......
Nothing we can say eases the pain of such and I feel yours. BEEN THERE, done that only once, Praise the Lord, but should it EVER happen again, I'll have my finite nosed canine friend for life out there on a leash (he dont listen for chit with animals around, lol)........downwind going in.
If Dewey can't find it.........it aint there.
Tough to shrug off and know it will eat at you for some time. Mine did. (Does)
Wish there was an answer available to help. Things happen but it offers no solice to the feelings that accompany such. God Bless

It happens. But we sure feel less anguish if we know that we gave our best effort to find 'em. Sounds like you did what you could.
Hope you get another chance at a big one.
