Well, opening morning didn't start off to good, well to start i have had the last two weeks off and have hunted hard last couple days of bow have sit all day shot a red fox during the vaca, then opening days roles around and i somehow wake up a little late (cause tired from sitting all day the day before). Decide to grab the muzzeloader, and get to my hunting spot a good 20 min drive and get dressed and go grab muzzeloader. Then looked for my caps and must of forgot them at home so get undressed and while getting in car decide to check somewhere else and sure enough there they are so i get dressed again and head for the stand. Getting there just as shooting light. 15 minutes later i had a doe come in about 40 yards upwind from a thicket, i get muzzeloader up and ready and she is acting nervous so i hold off the trigger and 25 yards behind her i hear a grunt and he makes his way to 40 yards and stops well i put crosshairs on his and forgot to take the scope caps off so take them off and make a little noise didn't spook him so get settled again. Squeeze and click cap goes off but no shot. (wtf i say to myself) change the cap and squeeze again and click no shot. He makes his way off with his doe. I take the muzzeloader apart and the nipple is clear so i take powder and bullet out and replace it. then the doe comes back through stoped and pants and pees on her tarsals then i hear the grunt again there he is at about 25 yards in my shooting lane so i raise settle cross hairs and click cap goes off but no shot (wtf again how did i blow it again). He trots off to 35 yards and i put another cap in it and click again. I am furious now, and he runs off to the thicket about 65 yards away. I break the muzzeloader apart again and load it with last shot. 2 minutes later i hear a shot on the neighbors and think he is dead so an hour after that i look left and see this beutiful coyote so i lay the hammer down on her at 50 yards and she is dead before she hits the ground. i get down and get her in the truck. I go to the same stand that night pretty much cause the wind for the stand was perfect and there was a hot doe somewhere in the vicinity. i get settled in and around 4:30 a doe flyed in behind me at 10 yards i hear grunting and there he is again for the third time. He is around 40 yards and looks right up at me as i am trying to turn so i hold tight and he contiues to chase the doe when he was 40 yards in front of me i pull up the SHOTGUN and yell hey then HEY and he would stop so i pull the shot on a slow trot and he takes of i pump and throw another one and this time he does the snow plow for about 30 yards. I am thinking yes thats a good since he is going to go down. I get down right before light and as soon as my feet hit the ground i hear one blow and instantly i get nervous cause it came from where he went. I sneak out an let him sit over night thinking if he is dead now he will still be dead in the morning. I get up around 8 and go and look for blood and find two of the smallest drops of blood i have ever found and thats it. I start doing the zig zag on the knees looking for blood and nothing. i am starting to freak out (i have wounded one and that feeling really sucks). i check this trail on the edge of the crp where he ran. Nothing so i go to check the pond that walk all the way around it and there is nothing. So i go back and walk the outside of the crp and half way through decide i have to take a number two and had to tp cause i use marking tape on blood trail so i go and have to use leafs which sucks. but i walk perimeter and start doing zip zag motions every ten yards the length of the the crp field and about two zags in i see him.. Upon getting home i notice that the first shot entered in the guts and went through diagphram liver and one lung but did not exit and the bullet was just under the skin. the entrance hole was plugged with guts and there was no exit hence the lack of blood and the second shot hit the shoulder at a very tight angle as he turned when i shoot and it exited the neck on the side of the shot and didnt hit anything vital hence the two droplets of blood. what you think of score i will post it sometime tomorrow. This will be my second biggest my first was a 154 i shot two years ago. here are a couple of pics from my vaca. sorry for the long post hopefully someone enjoys it and good luck to the rest of you guys the dnr at the check in said he was 4 1/2 but i still think he is 3 1/2 and weighted in at 198 field dressed
