Man that is a short little barrel. I found a used Savage 243 for 250 at a local gun shop may have to make the jump after I hear how they are shooting. What's not to like? A 35 cal, 200 gr bullet moving at 2500 or so? I just had my Savage done, and it looks good. Waiting for dies to arrive. In my experience, just about any rifle will outshoot just about any shotgun. And, even if you have a ML that will come close to this performance, a repeater is better than a single shot gun. AJ Brown swapped the barrel for 385. There are cheaper ways to go, especially if you can do the swap yourself. I've never done one, and don't know anyone that has the tools or know-how to set the headspace (even though I understand it is not difficult).

I have the tools to do a Savage and for headspace all you need are the gauges; some even use a round for one of the gauges. The hardest part is getting the nut broke loose the first time, the factory really tightens them up so I use a pipe on my nut wrench.

I have not purchased a scope yet so I stole the zeiss off the 270 WB just to shoot it.
Its going to be one hell of a shooter once I get a dedicated scope for it and a pet load worked up.

So what loads are people working up for this round? Powder, charge, bullet weights?
Thanks.
