I recently lost SHLOAD of weight, and now I can never stay warm in a treestand. Do you guys know of any products that may help? I know all about layering, and I do it. I'm looking for "wonder" products if there are any out there. Thanks.

You basically lost a lot of "insulation" , so now you need to stoke the metabolic furnace to compensate . Before you go out eat a nice high carb breakfast like oatmeal , and take a lunch or snacks of carb rich food with you on stand . Energy bars or granola bars are good , my fave is peanut butter and apricot jam sandwiches . Apples are good too , and the smell of them might just lure in a doe with a buck on her tail . Bottom line , you have to keep your metabolism high enough to warm the dead air between you and your clothing . Also , keep that blood circulating . Don't wear tight clothing or boots .

When it gets real cold I use two handwarmers in a kidney belt. Toasty.

I use Reebok's version of Under Armour (Play Dry [NFL Equipment]), and it is pretty nice as the first layer, got a set for Xmas a year or two ago.

SNake wanting to be like his heros, wearing their underware. Is it true you don't hunt Sundays so you don' t miss the "Boys in Blue" or is that to slobber while watching Jeffy G and his rainbow warriors? Take a thermos of warm liquid with you like coffee or tea. A small shot will do you wonders when cold.

Hello..
Contact Mike Wilson of Mike Wilson Enterprises in McCordsville. He is a FROGG TOGG OUTERWEAR distributor and he sells a HEAVY DUTY military issue of thermal underwear. I think the complete outfit with bottoms, top, hood and socks reytail for about $75.00.
I have a pair that I have worn deer hunting in Minnesota and Michigan during January and all through the icefishing season here in Indiana and I can stay TOASTY and on stand ALL DAY LONG.
A good warm wool sock cap can keep the head warm also. I read one time you can loose about 80% of the body heat through the top your head IF you don't wear a good hat.
GOOD HUNTING.. Bud Fields

Heavy wool hat and a scarf around neck will do wonders.

Cold gear Ubder Armour as first layer. Scent lok base layer as second layer. Wool bibs and wool jacket. If real cold, down jacket under the wool jacket.
Good pair of boots, gloves and you are set.
Just my cold weather gear.

Last year I purchased a Heater Body Suit. It is like a sleeping bag with legs. I wear it when it is below 40*. I have never got cold in it, and most of the time I have to unzip it to vent out some heat. It is a little bulky looking but I have bowhunted in it and it has not been a problem. I was in need of some new cold weather clothes when I bought mine so the cost was justified. It was $300, but I think they have a special on their web site right now like maybe $25 off and free shipping. Don't know the web site, just do a google search.

I wondered how those were to hunt out of. Looks like an easy way to fall from my stand! LOL

A ground blind keeps the wind off and you warmer.
Cover your head with a thick hat and dont' forget your neck. The cheap walmart baclavas in spandex work, esp. with a thicker layer like a scarf over that. I wear mittens in cold weather. I also found farmer john style coveralls with a jacket keep me warmer than overall type coveralls. Coffee/Tea/hot chocolate all work. I found that the thermos can get cold so I carry water, a stainless steel cup and heat tabs and heat my coffee, wamr my hands, and it hasn't spooked a deer yet. I also carry a thensolite sleeping pad cut into a section to sit on works to keep my butt warm, and bought to fleece blankets (earth colors) and will wrap one around my legs and on around my back. I don't get cold when I hunt anymore and it all fits into my backback.

"Good" cold weather gear & plenty of pasta & breadstuffs for your body to store-up calories for body heat reserves. I had the same problem with the blood thinner (rat poison) I take daily.
