...for the new deer hunting proposals that the IDNR have made to the NRC? Specifically the establishment of a Primative weapon season.

hmmm...lengthens archery season, but not crossbow season, but adds a primitive muzzleloader season. I don't get it.

Still have not seen anywhere to provide comments yet on these proposals. Does that come after the meeting?

A Sept 1 archery start is silly unless all archery hunters are included and I count xbows as archery. I do like the Nov 1 small game start for all state properties instead of the Oct 1 for some properties.

I do not consider x-bows as archery. It should be in with the fire arms or have it's own season. So I agree with the early archery with no x-bows.

HH
The proposed "archery season" comes in September 15. This will not impact. Crossbows in the UDZs.. Handicapped permits are valid then too

has nothing to do with the rules or this thread ;D but years ago when the deer classic was at the fair grounds, draw loc had a booth set up and a guy was putting on a demonstration. There was 50 people all standing around watching him. I walked up and saw what it was and said very innocently oh those arent legal in Indiana, lol about half his crowd left and man if looks could kill Id been DRT lol oh and I hope they dont make them legal. Ok sorry continue with the original thread subject....

OK....
it seems from what I am hearing that the "organized hunting groups" are using this "vertical only season" as a foot in the door and NOW they are going to ask for this to be amended to have their own season, not in the September 15 to September 30th time frame as proposed by the DNR Fish and Wildlife but from November 1 until the start of gun season. Basically they want the pre-rut and rut and don't want to share it. Deer managemnet be darned they want the big buck opportunities all to themselves.
I also understand that there could be a couple NRC members that could be sympathetic to their request.
I cant make the meeting but if anyone goes please comment and inform us to what happened.

They should propose moving the youth season also, either in October or early november.
