During this past season I had problems with my 2 year old SBEII failing to cycle correctly. I took the gun apart several times to clean and lube it however it never corrected the problem, I finally finished out the season with my REM.1187.
I contacted BENELLI and was told the problem would most likely be a dirty recoil spring tube .I knew that they were wrong because I had run a lube swab through that tube several times and that tube was clean.I finally got a female service rep. who was nice enough to tell me how to remove the recoil spring retainer nut.( heat it till it's hot to the touch then back it out.)
When I removed the spring and and recoil piston I found that the retainer nut that threads into the back of the piston had either worked it"s way out or the threads failed,causing it to brake.
I contacted BENELLI and they sent me all new parts at no charge because the gun has a 5 year warranty,however it did take approx. 4 weeks to get all the parts. You might want to tear your gun down now and inspect it before the next season starts and while it's still under warranty.
