Anyone else watch that show? I love it! Part of me would love to live like that.

Me too, except with a razor.

I enjoy it, but don't get to watch it very often. I'm curious to see the new characters this season. I didn't care much for the guy who lived in Appalachia.
A razor? To quote the great Phil Robertson, "There are only two types of people that don't have beards; women and children...I am neither."

All of these reality shows have a lot of staged content. I know for a fact yhat most of the Turtleman's shows are fabricated. And the newest show about the Sumner's in Ky. is a long way from reality. I still can relate to the mountain men somewhat. I spent 20 days living off the land in Alaska on a drop camp hunt and 19 days on a float hunt. The first one was with a 50 lb. limit of gear counting tent and food. Makes you really pack only the life needed items.

Do they round up a few critters and let them loose in people's houses?

One show showed him catching a cottonmouth in Danville Ky., didn't mention that cottons do not inhabit any area east of the Purchase area of Ky or north of the Mason-Dixon line.

I've just recently watched a couple episodes, and enjoyed it. I love to watch "Alaska; the last frontier." I love the fact that they live for a living. I'm not sure that I could handle the long winters and lack of sunlight, but upper Michigan or Wisconsin would be nice.

All of the outdoor reality shows have staged content and added drama. If you watch at the end of the show it states that fact. I can enjoy watching them for what they are. I would much rather watch Duck Dynasty, Swamp People, or Mountain Men than watch some of the other garbage that is on TV.

Dangit! You ruined it for me. Don't tell me that Santa isn't real too. After working my brain all day, I'm usually too exhausted for rational thought, so I like to enjoy a little mindless entertainment. It's difficult for me to watch network TV anymore. I do watch The Voice with my wife. It's amazing what one can get use to after a period of time. I'm starting to ignore my ingrown toenail.

We officially have cottonmouths in at least one county in Indiana, and I've caught them in two other counties. And we're way north of the Mason-Dixon line.

For many of these shows, it just means they do some things for humor, or even more often, recreate something that actually happened, but that wasn't caught on camera. And much of the content is real.

They don't inhabit Danville, Ky. as depicted on Ernies show. They are found in the far southwest part of Ind.

www.herpedia.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=4&pos=10From your link -- "Map does not show area of true distribution, only the states in which there is a population. Actual distribution in any highlighted state may be limited." Obviously, the snake does cross over the M-D line a bit, but not by much. At any rate, it does not inhabit Danville, Ky., as originally posted.
