The family and I were driving through Eagle Creek Park yesterday and noticed 4 bucks around a bunch of does and babies. It was an awesome site. So we stopped the truck to watch. Next thing you know the smaller of the two bucks start going at it. It was cool. I have never seen this before. Now keep in mind all four bucks were small and there was no aggression. It just looked like they were having fun.
I got out of the truck to try and take a video, but they heard me (dang sticks). So the action stopped and they just went back to eating.
I hope to see some bruisers in the field doing it for real this fall.
Later. Mike

I've seen the same kind of thing while hunting, but have yet to see a real knock down, drag out fight. I've heard some big fights before, out of sight of my stand, but the antlers were really crashing...

I've always heard mammas run off their male offspring to prevent interbreeding. And I seen why one day. A button was with mom and sis and he was trying to mount both of them and mom would head butt him like a goat!

I saw a similar thing happen last year. It took me a second to figure out what was going on, but I had to chuckle after I figured it out.
