Went in there yesterday for the first time in a long time and they have really made some changes. It is wall to wall guns. The whole back wall and part way up the side walls is guns. Great selection of any type gun that you would want. Quite a few used guns too.
I was impressed with their changes...

I was in there yesterday looking for a pair of hip waders .... seems that big rain we got a week or so ago overflowed a ditch which in turn flooded a portion of woods that I wanted to hunt. Needed a pair of hip waders to get to my stand.
Ended up having to go to Dicks .... God I hate that place.
And yes .... lots and lots of guns.

They did the same thing to the Castleton store. I think they call it a gun superstore. It is a lot nicer. I just wish the archery area was larger.

Same up here in Merrillville (NW). Must have been a chain store overhaul. Prices still (always) horrifically out of line on most things, but they are always busy! Likely catching Chicago, IL crowd. $$$

I don't like the prices, but I will still pay them for smaller items. F I am going to buy a gun, I generally go with a small local shop. The prices are better and I like contributing to the local economy.
I still love going to gander!

Gander is the spot to walk in, but until they start taxing online purchases, I use other venders with free shipping.
Oh, do I miss Galyans. That was the best place to buy ammo and guns.
I avoid Dicks.

The Gander Mountain in Greenwood has billboards up claiming to be Indiana's largest gun store. Their prices are so much higher on most stuff (not sure about guns) that I don't spend a lot of money in there. I'm not a big fan of Dick's but, on most products, their prices normally beat Gander Mountain up one side and down the other. With their Score Card, I earn points and get some good coupons pretty frequently. For gun selection though, Gander has become the place to go...I do like the fact that they have expanded gun selection while most big chain stores are going the other direction.

I know a guy that works in the gun dept at the Gander in G-wood. He is embarrassed by a lot of the prices, but the store and managers have the philosophy that if you don't want to pay that much for a used gun, the next guy in line will. Unfortunately, they are right.

I like their big selection of guns. The last two guns I wanted I was able to check out there and then order from another place at a much cheaper price.
