I like it! Makes it a one stop process.

So I'm confused here. Do I go online and apply or do I go to the ISP barracks and apply if I wanted one? Confused on how they take your fingerprints.

The confusion has only begun. Yesterday, I heard one radio station and one Indy tv discuss the new process as the process for purchasing a new handgun?!

So you have to go get fingerprints at one place and still go to the Sheriff/Police Dept to make the payment? Doesn't sound like a one stop to me. Lifetime is a good thing.

Firearms Permit Application Process Step 1: Complete the online application at aries.in.gov/Firearms/Permit.aspx At the end of the application, you will receive directions on how to schedule electronic fingerprinting (step 2) and payment of state fee. Step 2: Schedule electronic fingerprinting through MorphoTrust www.l1enrollment.com/state/?st=inStep 3: Bring your Application Number to your local law enforcement agency for approval and local fee payment. Step 4: Your application will be electronically transferred to ISP for final review. If your application is approved, your permit will be sent to you via U.S. Mail. If your application is rejected, you will be notified via U.S. Mail and will receive instructions on how to file an appeal www.in.gov/isp/2831.htm

When I got mine all I had to do was visit the county sheriff, and mail the fee to ISP. This adds a whole 'nother step, and I'd still have to take a day off from work.

That's what I get for listening to the news instead of looking it up myself. I understood it to be skipping the locals and just going through ISP......

They do the fingerprinting now for alot of professional licenses, nursing and respiratory for example this way. It doesn't take long, results take a few weeks though.
