I want to take my daughter hunting this year, and she badly wants to go, so I don't want to disappoint. I bought an Ameristep blind a few years ago and haven't really used it much, and never for bow season. I shoot Rage broadheads and was wondering if anyone has experience shooting through the netting with them. I'm afraid they will deploy, but don't like how visible we are with the windows open. Any experience you would like to share would be appreciated.

I'd say set up the blind and try it. I don't know if you still have the practice head, but I'd try that one first.
I like your question. Really makes you think.

I don't shoot through the net...why would one need to?
I lower it and shoot.

The blind manufactures do NOT recommend shooting mechanical broadheads though the mesh. I have taken their word for it and haven't tried it.

Yea don't do it. Mechanical's won't shoot consistently through mesh.

Our blind states specifically NOT to shoot a mechanical broadhead through mesh. That being said, I wouldn't shoot a fixed broadhead through it. Shooting 40# is a disadvantage already, why slow myself down that much more? I leave the top of screen on, and push it aside to shoot, it's not that difficult to do.

Thanks for all your input. I won't be shooting through the mesh. The velcro is loud when peeling it down, so I guess we'll just have to limit our movement visible from the opening.

Personally I wouldn't shoot any broadhead through mess, nor would I shoot a firearm through it either. JMO

To be honest I wouldn't shoot a Rage broadhead at a deer regardless of the mesh, or no mesh..save yourself some heartache and don't shoot a Rage, but that's a whole different can or worms/ thread.

I've hunted with Rage since the first year they were available and have had nothing but success with them. They fly true from my bow and have never had one fail to open.

Me as well. Taken 25 plus deer with the RAGE 2 blades and yet to lose a deer.(To each his own.) I just put broad heads on this morning and no need to practice, as they fly just like my field point's. In the end it doesn't matter what broad head you us, it is the shot placement that count's.
