It's definitely a confusing situation. I really don't see how deadeer could have worded it any better though, since he asked if orange was required for coyotes when a firearms deer season was in. I hunt private ground exclusively, where no one else has permission, so I should be safe as long as there are no trespassers. I was more concerned with the legal issues rather than safety.

The private ground issue is the same with hunting in a blind during a deer firearms season. Actually, I believe the blind law would require one to have orange on the blind to coyote hunt out of one during a deer firearms season. I'll have to read the thing through again to be sure.

Yep...if your hunting any season that requires Orange then its needed on the blind....for coyotes it not required on you!!! That's the way I read it....

Just makes one wonder if they could get a ticket for waterfowl hunting from a blind during deer firearms season without orange on said blind?

As far as I know you do not need hunter orange on a blind if you are hunting waterfowl during deer firearm. That would be incredibly stupid if it was required. We duck hunt out blinds all during deer firearm in a public marsh without hunter orange during deer firearm.

I can't remember the exact wording, but it seems to me like it could be taken that way and be an unintended requirement. I shall research. ....

Many of these laws contradict each other...thus more revenue for DNR , there is a lot of latitude there for the Co's " judgement"...not clear cut...I'd bet money a co could . or could not write you a ticket for not having orange on hunting coyote and per the law he'd e right either way...catch 22

Even if they are hunting Squirrels, Rabbits, or any other game.

Well, I climbed a large hill before sunrise this morning packing a suppressed AR-15, a set of shooting sticks, and a folding seat to pursue coyotes. Imagine my surprise when I set up and realized that the reed was missing from my distressed rabbit call. I blew into it and nothing but a rush of air. LOL!

I guess I'm going to have to invest in an electronic caller. It just sucks that I got up early, drove over there, and climbed that big hill for nothing. LOL! Well, at least I got to look out over a large, beautiful valley for an hour or so on Christmas morning.

The lesson should be why did I go with only ONE on cold days they dont work for lots of reasons saliva the biggest I ALWAYS carry at least 2 squeakers two rabbit and a woodpecker or some thing like that sometimes just a little different sound is all it takes TAKE TWO or FOUR never just ONE

I took a howler and the rabbit call this morning, and left the fawn call at home because I figured it was best for late spring (though I doubt that coyotes keep calendars). I also have a mouse squeaker, but couldn't locate it in my haste to leave the house. I've always been told to never use more than one distress sound at a set, but rather use a different sound on the next trip there.
During a 10-minute drive this evening, my wife and I counted 19 deer in various fields. All were antlerless.
