I got to the lease in Metamora at 5pm. Decided to go straight to the shooting house blind in the field...dressed in tennis shoes, sweat pants and a hoodie. I figured why not? Might get lucky and catch a turkey waking by. Got a little over 2 hours to see what unfolds. Tomorrow's forecast has me grinning!

I got out around 3. Walking to the stand I pushed three, 2 does and a fawn. They did run off, just kind of meandered.
Have not seen one since.

Three deer in field. Big doe, yearling doe and button buck. Eating clover. All fat and healthy!

9 does and fawns in field and a certain shooter buck. He came out of north end and stood and looked for a few minutes and walked back in. He was a big boy!
Tomorrow morning could be magical, boys and girls!

I got rained out about 2 hours before dark....I'll wait out a storm a month from now but this early I kept an eye on the radar and got out while the getting was good.

That was one of the best 1st sits of the year I've ever had! The does had me surrounded and pinned in my blind until well after dark! That buck was for sure mature. Looked old and acted old. Came out at last light, stood for 3 or 4 minutes about 150 yards off surveying the ladies and then strolled back in. He was wide and tall. No idea how many points. He was one of those bucks you instantly know is a mature shooter.

Great temps but the wind has already started gusting. In a huge deadfall 10 yds off the trail

Yeah, wind is pretty bad. Hoping deer will still be moving. Canal Days is going on in Metamora today. Hopefully that will drive more deer up the ridge to me.
