I get the reason for the hunt .and congrats to all those lucky Vets.. Now as for the sharp shooter part they can kiss my rump they are not needed at all. Also lets be real that habitat was fine and there was not a single undernourished deer there .Lets not use that tired excuse it gets old .They flat out said there were getting to be too many deer and car deer accidents and that was the reason for the hunt period.. Lets not cover up or embellish the one real reason for the hunt .You don't get deer that nice or bucks that look like that when they are undernourished ..LOL if they are going to reduce that herd that's fine but let hunters do it .FYI it was not a great big state forest .. You are not educated at all on this topic. I happen to know people on the park board and their concerns did not center around accidents. They were centered around health of the park PERIOD. As for letting hunters do it, that will never happen and wasn't even considered. To many idiots out there to let loose in a city park. They did it cause it needed done and this way was as painless as it comes. A lot of deer harvested in a short period.

I am not stupid and believe I am as educated at this as you or anyone else .Lets just say I am quite the skeptic when it comes to guying into governmental BS or claims and I never buy into the full version of any company line .Education is more than being told or reading something someone else claims. JMHO

JMHO I would ask anyone to question the government. It's our duty. But what you are saying on here IS regurgitating what you have read. The park board has pushed for a reduction for almost 10 years now and they are not elected officials. They volunteer their time and make judgements in the best interest of the park as a whole and not just what is best for deer. They collected opinions from many experts all giving the same opinion. They then received permission from the city council to reduce deer numbers. This was not something the government pursued.

It appears to me that you have first hand knowledge of how this all came down. I can't imagine the hoops that the park board had to jump through to get this done. My thanks to them... Thanks for your input...

But the process over the last few years to get the reduction done is far different than what has been portrayed in the media over the last month or so.

I spend a decent amount of time in the park. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine that the deer are massively over-populated. And yes, a good many of them in the winter are obviously malnourished. Anyone thinking otherwise, I'd ask if you actually go into the park and run 16 miles observing dozens of deer to form your opinion.
