So no transplanting it then ? I was at Glendale rabbit hunting and it makes great cover for rabbits. Yes, Sericea lespedezacan can be planted *BUT* you must keep it under control. I have some on my property and Deer will brows on it during late spring, but when it matures and turns brown, they won't touch it. Birds & Rabbits love it though!! Birdsfoot Trefoil is a good wildlife food source. Found this information which might prove useful: www.seedland.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=Seedland&Category_Code=WG-TREFOIL

It looks good but I need something that will stand up to snow and stay standing. I run this pen all year long. Right now o have to shut it down or restrict my usage because basically the cover is gone. I planted some big blue stem and its done okay but isn't really standing up to traffic.

Not sure how big you need a pen to be but maybe dividers in your pen so you can keep cover. probably hard for non woody plant to hold up to that much use.

I actually would rather have more fenced in than I do now. I have another 11/2 acre that I'm going to fence in this spring. The more the better. It all depends on the quality and speed of the dog. Some of mine are fine running in it because of the speed, others I can't put in there. Heck we hunted what 100 acres and that black and tan still caught that rabbit. Some of the dogs I train for guys are stupid fast and the only thing that will slow them down is cover. I had to shut it down until spring because how sparse the cover has become. Of course if I could catch more rabbits this wouldn't be a problem either.
