Believed to be a pet.
PARIS, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials reportedly euthanized a mountain lion that was found in Bourbon County Monday afternoon.
Officials told WKYT’s Sam Smith that a woman walking her dog in Bourbon County spotted the mountain lion. The dog might have spooked the mountain lion, which went into a tree.
The woman called animal control, but officials there told her “that's more than what we can handle, you need to call fish and wildlife."
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife euthanized the cat. No one was injured. The cat’s body is supposed to arrive in Frankfort later Tuesday for a necropsy.
Mountain lions are rare in Kentucky. Officials think it was a caged pet that got loose.

Cat was 125#'s young male. They are trying to find where it came from and where it has been roaming.

This Cougar was taken just northeast of Lexington, KY. Currently DNA Analysis is being done to determine where this Cougar came from.
What is fascinating is how this Cougar was roaming around central Kentucky, and it never got on anyones trail cam, or at least nobody reported it being on anyones trail cam.

The Bear population has really grown rapidly over the last few years. Just a few years ago only 3 counties were open to bear hunting. In the future it's likely that Bear hunting may occur in at least 25 to 30 counties in east Kentucky. As the Bear population increases more and more of them are likely to enter western Kentucky.
