Pa. game commission compromises on tweaks to youth hunting program....
Under the commissioners' revised proposal, mentored youth ages 7-11 will still be able to obtain their own deer and turkey tags. However, if a hunter age 6 or under wants to try deer or turkey hunting, they will need to use their mentor's tags.
According to the game commission, the initial proposal was made due to concerns and comments the agency received in regard to young children using high-powered firearms, as well as allegations that some adults were actually using mentored youth tags to harvest deer and turkeys for themselves.
