Pretty sure both sides play to win ... always have, always will.

As a once proud Republican who has been so incredibly let down by the party in the last decade (especially at the state level, where it matters most)...and as one who can not, in good conscience wholly subscribe to the Democratic Party agenda, I hereby swear off politics. I hate it so much! it is such a broken system. I see no way out of it. I am just going to live my life the best way I know how and go down with the ship, I suppose. However, I will make one observation about the mess in question and then walk away...
What this is REALLY about is Pence and his super-majority cronies reacting to their loss in the gay-marriage block attempt. When they don't like how a vote goes down, they look for a way to get revenge. They did the exact same thing in reaction to Glenda Ritz' election. Vengeful and spiteful...now THAT's a sin!

Pretty sure both sides play to win ... always have, always will. ......BUT Democrats do it more often then less. Heard some talk that this country needs a third party with same level playing field as Republicans & Democrats.

Met, you know me as well as anyone on here, so you probably know that I struggle with this as well. John MacArther talks about it well. As Christians, we are to be subject to the governmental authorities whoever they are, but sometimes I act like the zealots of Jesus' day. I guess my struggle as a responsible Christian citizen is when to speak out and when to not. I'm not sure that Jesus ever did. His beef was with the Chief Priest and Pharisees, not the Romans. I say that I'll go down in a blaze of glory when they come to take away my guns, but when it comes down to it, I will obey the governmental authorities ...even if they take away my guns.

I totally understand. I think if we all diligently look inwardly instead of being so quick to point a finger, the world would be a better place. Well, you know I do have moments of weakness, so I still could go down in a blaze of glory.

I like to say they have that special bible with that list in the back of the book; and yeah, it's a big problem.

I always thought the RFRA was about protecting people from goverment laws that would otherwise excessively burden their ability to freely practice their religion, such as Native Americans handling eagles, feathers and parts for their ceremonies where otherwise they would be committing a federal crime or protecting people who chose to do halal or kosher slaughter in the name of their religion, etc etc. I am unsure why this RFRA is a big deal but the 33 other states who have some form of it are not a big deal and why the Federal RFRA of 1993 is not a big deal.

Read it if you haven't. Read each of the others too....the differences are what makes ours a bigger deal.
Arizona almost went down the same path as us but after the crap storm of the last week their gov made the smart move and is asking for changes before he signs it.

And short lived it was.....changes signed into law today. Pence just signed RFRA clarification bill....nothing "DIED"....matter of fact we are back to the same usual grind. It's only "white males" you can refuse service to....SMH

I think you and I have vastly different view points on the original bill as well as the changes that were made.
I am curious about the "DIED" part assuming it was directed at me? What exactly did you mean?

I'm so sorry that you have been denied service, Greg. That is not right! Please tell us where the business or businesses that did this to you are so that I, and others who may choose to, can go and give them a piece of our minds.

Oh, you said white males. You weren't referring to your own experience? Which white males were refused service? Because that's just wrong! I want to express my outrage.

Yes the bill didn't "DIE" (some where calling for that) it got "clarification" today....
