I decided to head out for some early morning action with the fly rod. Having just tied a bunch of spiders the other day, I've been itching to cast a line. This was all catch and release as I wanted to try a new pond, in preparation of soon teaching my grandson to fly fish. Man, oh man do I think we are in for some fun. In less than an hour, I caught 23 gills...all on the same cream foam spider. Even better, 11 of them were over 8 inches! The 24th gill became bass breakfast. Try as gently as I could, I couldn't get them to the bank before she broke me off. Pretty cool event though! Basically, my hands were constantly in the water releasing fish...hence the prunies! Now to get my lil man on some action because he wants to fry some up for dinner!
