I finally got down to my place for an early morning turkey scout. Nice morning before the rain came. Didn't get there quite early enough to hear the major roost gobbling, though I heard some on the way up the hill. I decided to sit in my best deer stand and take in the morning. I got settled at about 6:40 and immediately started hear some distant gobbles. Then at 6:45, I heard some hens yelping from the roost very close. I could tell they were along the Powerline (on my North property line) about 150 yards off to my North. Sure enough, I heard several fly down, probably into the Powerline cut. I heard them working for an hour and they had a tom with them gobbling occasionally I also had 2 deer walk up on me. And, I had a quail walk by! First quail I have seen there. I am fired up for next Saturday morning now!

Sounds like a nice trip. I haven't seen any quail at our place but I hear them all the time.

Glad you are having success in scouting. Up here in the NW corner of our state, specifically LaPorte county, we have only seen a small hand full of birds, and have heard absolutely zero gobbling so far. I have a draw hunt at Kingsbury fwa this coming weekend, and there is zero sign where we have always seen them in the past. In fact in the last two weekends of driving around there, we have seen three gobblers on the 6000 plus acres. Not good. Our last two winters have been horrible, with snow and cold, so hopefully it did not do the birds in. We will see.
