I have found that rodent control isn't that high on the priority list, but I do enjoy the "camp" atmosphere and spending time in the woods with friends is always a good idea. You know, I felt that way for years. I've hunted whitetail deer, Hogs, black bear, pronghorns, elk, and been on two African Safaris. Guess about 2011, I figured that my bucket list for hunting big game was full, with the taking of a tuskless cow elephant, at 16 yds. with a single shot rifle! Since then, I have found a profound and newly appreciated love for hunting limb chickens! The camping out and fellowship with kindred spirits is just icing on the cake. My No. 1 hunting priority, anymore is chasing squacks. I only hunt deer anymore[having taken close to 100], to put one in the freezer. I really hope we get a nice turnout, for what may become an annual event. Only time will tell. maddog

Sounded like fun, now it looks like fun. My plan right now is to make it there Friday evening and head back home Saturday evening.

Anyone going to have a squirrel dog? Love hunting over hounds and never had a chance to do that. Don't really need to shoot one just want to see the dogs.

I've got it on my calendar....will know more by the end of August on how my hoped for attendance will work out. Have found in the last year or so that making plans that far ahead is almost an exercise in futility. What kind of weaponry is everyone planning on using? I'll probably bring the Savage .22 that I bought off of Savagehead a few years ago...it's proven to be a better shot than I usually am Food?? Will everyone be taking care of their own meals, do we want to try for a community pot-luck at least one night??...yeah I know-here I go making plans again

Food?? Will everyone be taking care of their own meals, do we want to try for a community pot-luck at least one night??...yeah I know-here I go making plans again Because people will be showing up at different times, everybody should plan on their own meals, BUT I thought Saturday eve, we should have a community fry up of squirrels and fish[assuming we get enough to eat ]. If we don't, we can always fall back on hotdogs and burgers....... I will have the coffee on every am, before going hunting...bring your own cup. maddog

Most of you already know this, but here's a list of the most obvious things you need to bring with you. Firewood [see above post on first page] indianastateparks.reserveamerica.com/rules/general/inrules.jspWater [I'm bringing 2 5 gal. jugs full, plus 2 coolers] ice insect repellant [anybody with a fogger we could use it around camp] Toilet Paper- nuff said.... generator if you absolutely need electric. Any firearm you feel like using, .22s,shotgun,air gun, muzzleloader. Personally, I'm bringing two .22 rifles. maddog

Im bringing my old charcoal grill. Its a portable 4-6 burger sized grill. I take it ice fishing and the like. Probably fill a cooler with ice and dogs. Water as I don't drink pop/beer/coffee.
Are we going to try to have a community fire one night? Perhaps after the hunt type BS session

Ice fishing without coffee??? You're going to have to change your name, cause I have never met a hillbilly that didn't drink coffee ...well, or chew it.

I have a feeling that both fri. and sat. night there will be BS sessions around the campfire.... We can discuss squirrel cleanin', savin' tails, recipes, who's the best shot, the ideal limb chicken weapon..... That'll be half the fun! maddog

Are wives allowed? Mine is a bobber watching champ. Always catches more than me as a cast for bass. She likely will provide a big part of Saturday evening's dinner with the fish she will catch. No problem if it is guys only. Just considering another source of food......

This will be an upgrade!
