I would like to see info on how fast, how much energy and so on before I could decide whether it was a suitable tool to hunt with.

No interest here; but if the performance is adequate knock yourself out.

So there is no minimum draw weight on bows? Yes, but in my opinion it is way too low.. I'm thinking just a little low - I'd be good with 40#. Although 45# wouldn't hurt either. One thing I'm not a big fan of is mechanical's; if you are shooting a 70# compound I guess if you like them OK - however after reading Dr. Ashby's results from Africa I'm pretty well convinced everyone would benefit from using a heavier arrow with a 2 blade cut on contact type head with a pretty good FOC. I know he was hunting game bigger than deer but if I blow a shot and need to penetrate bone of some kind I want every advantage I can get.

I didn't know these were a "new" thing. They have been killing pigs with them for at least 5 years in Hawaii and Texas as far as I know. www.youtube.com/watch?v=av2pSSfW-WISome of the reading I have seen you can get different draw weight for them from 25lbs all the way up to 60lbs. If they meet the minimum draw weight required for bows, I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to kill a deer with them.

I can kill a deer with my Silverado but I doubt many people will back a hunters desire to drive around their farm and try to run one down.
I could, much more easily, kill a deer by waiting in a tree with a very large rock for a deer to walk directly underneath me ..... again, I doubt many would get behind such an idea.
Socially acceptable ways to kill a critter are funny that way ..... it is not just the end result that is important. It is what the fine folks think of the journey that gets you there.

For us "older" guys who remember the TV show "The Man From UNCLE", there was an episode where the blond haired guy was using a "sling bow" that looked pretty much like this one. This was way back yonder in the 60s. Obviously, that was fiction.

I made a few in the past modifications to regular slingshot change bands add brace that's it. It's more than enough energy to take medium sized animals or deer size. The problem you have to takes strength ,steady holding and most of important skill.
There are alot of hunters that jumped on the bandwagon of crossbows thinking it's like a rife/bow hybrid. It's not takes skill and steady aim. I'm all for hunting and new people getting into the sport but I see alot of hunters that have no business trying to hunt.
I used my slingbow for fun but did take out some pests with it.I also sent arrows through hay bales some more than half of the shaft on backside.
No dout it would work but not for everyone. Same as slingshot not a weapon for everyone but rabbits sitting or just jumped is fun.
Now as someone said they could use their truck or a rock. I see your point but hunting from a vehicle has been established illegal and not sporting. Also I believe a dead fall aka rock or limb is illegal and only morally right in survival situations. Lol
Unfortunately the Dnr doesn't care if someone has skill or qualified to use weapons. Just because you pass a simple hunter ed class doesn't mean you have skill and knowledge of range, projectile drop or proper placement of shots.

Here is skill at it's finest. m.youtube.com/watch?v=9ieWrWLjii0Also here is more proof its skill that makes the hunter not just having equipment. m.youtube.com/watch?v=a-0Q1NVVsN0In the right hands a slingbow would be deadly. After all we let guys buy a gun a day before firearm that never shot or can't even get a foot grouping with slugs. However I don't approve of these type of hunters. The weapon of choice is only as good as the man/woman behind it. Not the other away around.

I will also point out my slingbow was more than 40# pull to full draw. Never put on scale but it took more strength than my recure that's 45# that I use for bowfishing and coyotes

So there is no minimum draw weight on bows? Yes, but in my opinion it is way too low.. EVERY SINGLE BIG GAME ANIMAL IN NORTH AMERICA HAS BEEN KILLED WITH 45# RECURVES, EVEN GRIZ AND POLAR BEARS. 35 CAN EASILY KILL A WHITETAIL.....AND HAS MANY TIMES

slingbows are not legal in indiana...more than just draw wgt to contend with....has to be a longbow(or recurve) or compound bow. I posted this question years ago when I first saw one of these

As much as I love traditional bows; the day I'm down to shooting 35# bows I will pick up a crossbow for deer season.
