nfalls, nice story. I went today, since tomorrow it may be raining. I had a great start going this year, but since mid/late Oct., I've been out 7-8 times and only seeing 0-1 squirrel/outing. Today, I saw 2 squirrels, plus a coyote. I got a shot at one squirrel and.......mmmmissed..... If it doesn't rain, me and a buddy are going for one last hoorah, before we hang it up for 6 1/2 mos.

That shotgun of yours looks very familiar, what gauge & Make is it? My Grandfather used a single barrel 16 gauge which was an old Springfield Model 1929. Still have it hanging on the wall just above my Father's Ithica Model 37 12 gauge pump. Last time I shot, the old Springfield Single shot, was back in early 1972.

New England Arms made a lot of single barrels as did Stevens. My Brother has three H & R single barrels: a 20 gauge, 12 gauge, and a limited edition .410 with a checkered walnut stock (N.I.B.). Also has an H&R single shot Turkey 12 gauge. That THING KICKS LIKE A MULE!!!! I still have a my H&R "Topper" Model 58, I purchased back in 1969. Shoots great, bagged a lot of Squirrels & Rabbits with it.

And my season is officially done... No more shooting until turkey season gets here. And one more to team 1 I did try for the first time to use a bucket and it did keep more hair off I was happy with the results of that! Also.... I've seen a air skinning and never tried it so I blew him up like a balloon and for a tough old fow squirrel I was quite amazed at how easy his skin came off so if anyone has thought about it but never done it I say give it a try

Well boys, the party is over for another year. Congrats again to HillBillyJeff for bein' the squirrel shootinest dude in the world two years in a row!!! This year was kinda strange for me. I shot my last squirrel on Oct. 15th. Went hunting 12-15 more times, and not only didn't shoot another squirrel, but didn't see hardly any. Oh well, had fun anyway, and hope the rest of you boys did, too. maddog

So my season ended without a single shot. I took my nephew with me since I was in LaPorte over the weekend. He carried his Rossi .22 and I had my Takedown. He saw 1 and I saw 1. Each out 100+ yards away. A few times we saw some shadowy figure lurking in the briars and multiflora. He thought it was a turkey. I convinced him it was probably HillBillyJeff!!! With that said, I suggested we head to "Grandma's Diner!" He agreed and our bushytail woods stompin' came to an end for this season. After my nephew put down 10 tacos and a few Root Beers, we both enjoyed some of my Moms "Wacky cake" (a deadly deep chocolate fudge topped with cream cheese frosting) and ice cream. NOW THAT'S A WAY TO FINISH THE SEASON!
