theres is also a screw only accesible with trigger assembly removed from stock. most erroneously tighten this all the way down which is wrong and makes for a helluva tough time setting the trigger

both my tc's have set triggers and both only pull about 6-7 pounds unset. I prefer them set though. theres a method to setting that screw too. doesnt really adjust pull wgt per se. iirc you half cock then adjust screw out till it trips trigger then go back in one full turn. google that to verify, its been awhile I can't say that it's a bad thing; I just sure needed to get use to it. Actually, I would have never thought that it would have been 6-7 pounds. I just barely touched it. I'm getting use to it though. I don't put my finger in the guard until I'm on target. I'm use to a squeeze, but this was a touch.

no, once mine is set, its just a few ounces. I mean when I cock the hammer I can fire with the front trigger not set and its still just 6-7 pounds vs 6-7 ounces when set.

It was so much fun to shoot. I started out with 100g powder. At 50yds, it consistently shot ~6" high and to the right. Can't adjust any further left, but switched to 75g powder. This worked better. I shot 13 times. I just thought of something re shooting HIGH. All my ML rifles shoot high when I do not support the fore end with my hand. If you are shooting off a bench with your supporting hand under the toe and the forearm on a bag this could cause your shots to go high.

The heavier the recoiling gun the more pronounced the effect. Case in point: Had the 416Rigby out after shooting some 223. First shot I held it like I had been with the 223. Shot was 6-7" high - slapped myself and held it like I would a heavy recoiling gun and 1" high - right where it should be.

I have the center of a target I shot off the bench with Old Ugly, my .54 caplock. Using a 6 o'clock hold on a 100 yard bull it takes out the top of the X-ring at 50 yards. Stand up and shoot it offhand with a center hold and it goes the same place, well at least it used too.

I called Big Oaks as they requested to remind them that I'm coming. They said that they had the access road all set up for me. Not sure what this means, but I'm excited. I'm thinking that they pinned a few in for me. LOL

Here is the gun I'll be using for the Primitive Hunt at Big Oaks in a few weeks. I don't know anything about it and just have the gun. I'm going to take it to the Outdoorsman on Friday and have them tell me what I need based on Big Oaks rules. They'll set me up. Oh, I do have the booklet that came with the gun too. Nice looking rifle, Jon! I have a Friend who uses a .72 Cal. Flintlock with fixed open sights and it's also a "smooth bore" rifle.
