I can't do the 6th, I'm off from 12/12 - 12/20 and can't steal another weekend. That's alright though. I'm working on getting in contact with owners of some of the ground I grew up rabbit hunting and hopefully I'll have a few places secured to go.

I should be able to be there as well. May bring my son along, not as a shooter, but just for the experience. If you need me to do anything ahead of time just let me know. Like I said Atterbury is basically in my front yard, so I can be there any day of the week. I'll check with someone I know that works over there to see if he can give me an idea of where we should start as far as the rabbit hunting. I know it gets hit pretty hard and not quite the population there used to be, but should still be able to get on some rabbits. Thanks again for the offer Span. Quite generous of you.

Don't know how many of you guys are still chasing those silly deer, but how about next Sunday December 6th? Just throwing it out. Thought some might not want to hunt later in the season when we'll be dealing with cold and snow. Let me know. I'm fine driving up to atterbury. It's about an hour an a half for me so I won't be able to do any pre-hunting or scouting so if anyone knows any good rabbity looking areas it might help. Yes in the beagle world rabbity is a word. I can do the 6th. Atterbury works for me, never hunted there before.

This will be great. Haven't had my grandfathers model 12 16ga out in a few years, due to the lack of 16ga shells, with poly-choke. But I got a whole flat this last summer in South Dakota at the Dakotamart. Great store!!! Got my go pros already for it too.

If you could take a drive around once in awhile to see if you can find some rabbits out hopping around. I've hunted it once years ago for bunnies. Don't remember much about it. Deer hunted it quite a bit but not rabbit.

Couple of things to get out of the way first. If you never hunted with dogs it can get dangerous quick. For hunters and dogs. I just have a few simple rules to keep hunters and dogs safe. 1st is no jump shooting rabbits. What that means is if you kick a rabbit up, don't shoot at it. I'll put the dogs on it and they'll bring it back. Jump shooting is the number one way dogs get shot. The dogs are quiet when not running so you never know where they could be. Second. No shooting off game. Quail pheasant. Whatever. It goes back to the same as jump shooting and shooting close to a dog can make it gun shy. Let the rabbit circle back before shooting at it. Don't shoot on the dogs jump. This lets the rabbit get far enough ahead of the dogs to be safe for the dogs. Last but not least. Don't shoot my dogs.
I can only guarantee my dogs will run a rabbit. I don't hunt atterbury so not sure of the population. If there are rabbits there they will get them up but they can't run what's not there. I hope we can get into some so that everyone gets some shooting at least. Every and all is invited to come down and hunt with me any time on places I hunt that I know hold a good population. If anyone has property they want to hunt I'll supply dogs. I don't have to shoot. I just like hunting different areas and getting people behind dogs and having fun watching dogs work.

At times, I've seen lots of rabbits at Atterbury, but they seem to have a lot of coyotes too.

Don't know the answer to the first two questions. The third, sure. The only reason I don't want anyone shooting any off game is for the safety of my dogs. Known too many guys that have had dogs shot when someone shooting when they shouldn't be.
As far as not enough people, I'll more than likely head up there even if no one else wants to go. Just to run some new property.
