Must be.. I just put them in the sinkhole out back and they're usually gone in a few days. NOT a good idea. That sinkhole leads to an underground stream where people get their drinking water. The middle of the field is fine (where I dispose of them), but not in sinkholes.

Trust me, lots of worse things go down sinkholes in Southern Indiana then deer hide and bones.

My old boss told me about someone he knew that used to throw used motor oil down a sinkhole.

I'll take any fresh deer carcases in southern Indiana, old freezer burned meat. Anything for the dogs. Pretty much if it's meat, I'll take it.

Possibly the biggest I have ever taken. Also she had over an inch thick layer of fat on her back and hind quarters. Either she knew where there was a feed trough somewhere or we are in for cold or snow or both.

Either she knew where there was a feed trough somewhere or we are in for cold or snow or both. I got a good-size Doe too. My shot was a long one being 175 yards+ so I used my Ruger .270. She wasn't all that fat, which means BBQ Deer Ribs!! My Doe weighed around 130 LBS (live weight) There are no corn or soybean fields in my area of the County, just cattle & sheep, elevation is a bit too high.......NOW BACK TO SQUIRREL HUNTING!!

I just dump them out on the back forty of my own place for the varmints to chew on. Makes me mad to see 3-4 carcasses and hides pitched in the roadside ditch like some folks do. That stuff is biodegradable, and the critters will appreciate it, but dump it out of sight somewhere.

Lot of this going on here in Rural Kentucky.
