That's a shame. But it could happen more easily when bird hunting. A person is concentrating on bird and in the process is swinging across a area for the shot.

Dumbass shooter. Focus on the bird, but be dang sure about where the shot will go!!!! No excuse.

It's not always the shooters fault. My brother was hunting rabbits at a Fish and Wildlife area a long time ago. He was in a huge open field of tall weeds. He jumped a rabbit and shot it when all hell broke loose. There was a group of 4 hunters that had decided to take a rest and sat down in the middle of the field. He shot one of them in the back. He was half afraid to go and see what happened. When he got to them, one guy had his shirt off with about 20 little spots of blood trickling down. He had no idea there was anybody around.
