Does anyone hunt in a ghillie suit? My wife ordered me one for Halloween and it came a couple of days ago. I'm going to be a christmas tree, she has plastic ornaments to put on it. It's a quality 5 piece suit. I wore one back in the 70s when I went through MC sniper training orientation, this one looks as good as military issue. Thought about wearing it in the woods early archery next year.

I never could shoot a bow while wearing one, always got snagged.

I made one and use it when the leaves are falling and changing colors. It works great but is a pain walking around in. It snags on everything in the woods. I usually get to where I want to hunt then put it on and try not to move much. Here's a thread from last year when we were talking about them. It has a picture of the one I made in it. hunt-indiana.com/thread/55263/ghillie-suit

Always turkey hunt in one. Haven't used one for deer hunting.

I made a simple one from a piece of burlap folded over and slit cut for my head to pop thru. I cut some strios of burlap and camo netting and glued them on. Since the first pic I added some more burlap to break up the colors. Did the same on a brimmed hat. I have about $40 total in it. Cheap, easy, and works great.

I thought about making a suit but it's to warm when I'm hunting on the ground with a stickbow in the early season. I ended up making a camo outfit that breaks up my outline. I've had really good results with it so far this season.

Not technically a ghillie suit, but best deer hunting purchase in 10 years.

I have a buddy that also went through sniper training that uses one. He seems to think it's pretty effective.

I've never had any use for that type of camo suit, but think it would be ideal for Turkey or even Squirrel Hunting.

I think using one while tree stand hunting really is not much better than your regular camo, but on the ground sitting, you completely vanish especially the hand made ones with natural cover incorporated in it. I have had deer almost withing touching distance a few times while in mine

They are really cheap to make, it just takes some time. I made mine and it only cost about fifteen bucks total for the pats I bought which was a cheap pair of sweat pants and top from the dollar store. The rest I salvaged. The sky is the limit on what you can put on it.

I use a leafy suit which can be effective on the ground as a bush, or in a tree as part of the tree. I do plan on next year adding some sneaky leaf around the head and shoulders area to break up the outline of my body better.
