A few in my 35+ seasons chasing them. Dunno the number in total. I do know I've never taken one with a shotgun lol. Too many bow kills to venture a guess. One pistol, one crossbow, two rifle and a fair number of muzzleloader kills....and one with my truck

Here he is folks! THAT hunter who was wiping out Indiana's deer herd and created the reason for the One Buck Rule...... I know, I know. I'm not a good person. This is in jest right? Lets hope so. To each their own.

One of my idiosyncrasies is lists so I have written down all deer killed, what tree stand, what weapon, what license used, how far of shot.and how far they went. I also have a diary of deer camp that has what i saw on each sit ,buck doe and the direction they came from. I also have a list of all guns. Make, model and serial number, weather they have scope and power and make. I also have a list of fishing poles by name modle and what reel is on them. So i know sence i started hunting all but 6 of my 128 have been killed in Indiana. I took 2 bucks and 2 does a year for 10 years streight and one year with depredation permits, archery, gun and muzzeloader I took 7 deer. I hunted to.fill freezer because that is all the meat we had to eat. Now not so much. I still enjoy the hunt but if I do not kill something I am not gona eat beans and rice for a month or too out of the next year. The 6 I killed out of state have been in the last 10 years because I am in a better financial situation then years back and can aford to go on a hunt now and then out of state. Onebentarrow Here he is folks! THAT hunter who was wiping out Indiana's deer herd and created the reason for the One Buck Rule...... I know, I know. I'm not a good person. It appears you do not approve of the number of deer I killed in my lifetime. Even though the area I hunted in the late eighties and early nineties was over ran with deer, and we used to see anywhere from 6 to 10 deer each time we were out for a hunt. The landowner that I hunted on was a farmer. If we did not kill deer we would have lost our permission to hunt his property. Add that to the fact that my income was restricted at that time and I butchered my own dear the meat that I received from the deer was greatly appreciated by my family. I do not understand why you criticize me for following the law and taking the extra deer to feed my family when I do not criticize you for not killing deer. Did you ever think that you might be the reason that we have all the extra bonus County permits now? By not killing deer you created an overabundance of deer in your area. As far as the one Buck rule goes I do not feel that I created that because I was not picky about what Buck I took. The people who created the one Buck rule or the one that wanted to sit and watch deer walked by their stand until a great big one came along that they could hang on their wall. They did not have to feed their family.they could waste their money on a deer tag and eat tag soup and it did not affect them or their famiy. I do not care what you hunt or what you kill as long as it is within the law. It really bites when you follow the law and someone criticizes you for what you have done because it does not meet their standards. Onebentarrow

Apparently not.

This is true.. I didn't check in the last buck I killed (8 pt). I've also killed a 6 point and a forky in the past few years that didn't get checked in. I don't know about anyone else, but I think you could probably just check them in here for this year to make up for it. LOL. They were killed out west, in states without a check-in system.

I have no idea, I never thought of keeping track of all the deer, turkey, ducks, geese, pheasant, squirrel, rabbit, doves and lord only knows how many kinds of fish.
It's not about numbers it's about the challenge, the fun and most of all the delicious food they provide.

My guess is around 100 or so in the 25 years I've hunted. Took me 5 or 6 years to get my first and I've taken a deer every year, but one since then and that because I was living out of state that year. Most I've taken in one year was 10, but that was between Indiana and Ohio. I'd say my average for the most part is 3 to 5 a year. I've have hunted Deer since 1972, and it also took me five years before my first Deer Harvest in 1977. Since then, in three different States, I've managed to bag anywhere from one Deer to as many as six in one season. I kept all my Deer Tags and never counted them which I need to do. Most of my Deer were taken in Kentucky & Indiana, with six Bucks taken in Colorado. My harvest have been 40% antlerless & 60% Antlered.

I really wish that I would have began keeping a log book of my hunts. Location, weather, method, weapon, sightings, harvest, etc. Not so I could say how many deer that I have killed, but rather as a something to reflect upon. My friend has kept a photo journal of our hunting party over the years. Its very interesting to see how we have all aged and our camp has evolved.
I don't have a clue how many that I have harvested. I do know that, if I can't get one in the next few weeks, this will be only the third season since 1989 that I have not. I do know that I have been in the woods on opening day of firearms season every year since then.

I have no idea the number, a bunch. It took me 3 years to kill my first deer. That first kill was in 1982. I have taken at least 1 deer every year since then. Including this year. I also know I have killed a deer with every legal weapon for Indiana except a crossbow.

Keep driving a sprint car and you might get that disability permit sooner than you think.
