Please explain the thinking behind your answers. I voted yes because it would result in more does being taken, which the IDNR wants, plus it allows us another buck.

I'd even vote for having to earn the first one. I know it's not very popular, but I like it when the bucks have to search a bigger area for a receptive doe. Just my two cents. I like the way Wisconsin does it.

I could buy into an Earn A Buck on the SECOND buck, but NEVER on the first.
Some deer hunters only hunt opening weekend of firearm season. I don't think that would be fair to them to have to pass up a buck while waiting on a doe.

Ive said it a thousand times before try hunting in a county where less than 250 deer were killed. I had one shot at a deer in archery season and it just happened to be a buck.
Earn a buck for your second buck i would go for that.
Yes the IDNR wants more does taken and that will not happen with $24 doe tags.

BINGO!!That is a prime reason I would not be for it on the FIRST buck.. This poll is on the SECOND BUCK..

All counties and townships therein are not EQUAL in deer populations. Contrary to what some want you to think, NOT every place in Indiana is OVER-RUN with deer.
Having to shoot a doe/antlerless to "earn" you a **OPPORTUNITY TO HUNT YOUR FIRST** buck is NOT a good idea.....yet
However with the current situation of recruiting new hunters and the rising cost of DEER HUNTING (tags, leases, gas, so on and so on)...there very well may come a time when it would be a good idea.
I am NOT convinced that we won't go back to the way our deer regulations were and are structured for, a one and one buck bag. I don't see how the state can just keep the structure the same when it was designed around a one and one buck bag.
Looking at some of the discussion around the net, I would say that folks are starting to see that the OBR don't make any since with our current license structure....and thats BAD news for our IDNR because the system is designed to give the state the maximum dollars for the privilige to hunt deer.
Any structure adjustment will mean LESS dollars for our IDNR...and THATS bad news!

I don't know about having it applied statewide , but in a zone based system it could work very well . Some form of physical check in with visual verification of the doe kill would have to be part of it .

I don't think that would be fair to them to have to pass up a buck while waiting on a doe. I'm sure you've hunted sugar ridge a few times. Ever been in their during opening weekend of gun season? Its a mad house, each year i notice more and more "deer hunters" walking around and trying to "bunny" shoot anything that runs in front of them. Honestly its plum scary, and frustating as heck. Bottom line, if your a "real" deer hunter, pick up a bow or crossbow and kill a doe before gun season roles around (6 weeks worth). Or you should have to pay triple for that buck tag. This inturn, would help with buck/doe ratio, more dnr income, and few less idiots that can shoot a slug out of the brothers-cousins, sister-in-laws, husbands gun. Lug

Earning the first buck wouldn't bother me since I've never shot an Indiana buck ;D.
