My brother, due to several health issues, was forced to give up on more conventional archery and switch to a crossbow. Last year he purchased a Mathews switchback, a copper John sight, a laser bow tuner, a bow vise, a Scott release, a $100 drop-away rest, and several other things. Wanting only to cover the cost of a new x-bow, he graciously sold me all the above for the price of the Mathews alone. Heckofa deal.
I just wanted to say that the fit and finish on this bow is superb in every way. I have never seen a better film-dip camo job. no bubbles or indistinct areas can be found. All of the bows metal components come together flawlessly. the only other bow I have that is this well made is a PSE mach six. It is also a fine piece of construction, though it's paintjob is not quite as good.
As far as shooting the bow, I cannot say I was totally shocked, as I had shot an Outback when it debuted a few years ago. Still, it is an amazing thing to feel so little shock and hear so little noise out of a fast bow.
Frankly, it is an amazing piece of equipment, and I look forward to shooting it.

Thats why people tell you congratulations when you get one. Mathews has the second best talk forum on the net. Anything you want to know about your bow you will find it there. forums.mathewsinc.com/Sorry to hear about your brothers health. By the gear that he had I would say he was really into bowhunting and its a shame he cant use a bow anymore. Best of luck with your switchback.........................conratulations.

The first thing i notice when shooting another bow other than a Mathews is the vibration. I bought my Mathews 8 years ago and want to buy a new one but mine shoots so good i can fault it for anything so i keep on shooting it. Most of the time if my Mathews is shooting off its not the bow its my form. h.h.

Since we are having a Bow lovefest,Let me say I recently purchased A Bowtech Tribute ,Wow,talk about Smooth, quiet shooting, accurate and really fast With no vibration. The camo job is absolutely beautiful. And you can change draw length as well as smooth or fast modes with just switching Mods ,no changing cams, no Bow press needed.. I have owned several Bows over the years ,but will say this Tribute is the best Bow I ever shot. I really believe you could not go wrong with either the Mathews XT or the Bowtech Tribute. And you get a really neat hat.

When I bought my XT I shot several bows and I like the Bowtech Tribute first and I liked the way both of them shot (very fast and very accurate). When all was said and done I got the XT because it felt more comfortable in my hand. That was the deciding factor for me though aside from that little bit of comfort there was really not much difference. When I buy another bow (next year) to add to my collection it will either be a bowtech or another Mathewes just depends on who has the best out then.

All of the Big Three have good fit and finish. It comes down to personal preference or marketing in Mathews case!

I was using a $300 Browning single cam since 2000, and it slayed the deer quite well. In 2004 I shot an old Hoyt ProVantage finger bow that was probably 15 years old. It was slow by today's standards, but smooth and accurate in a way that today's shortys can hardly hope to achieve. It smoked two deer well enough.
I like Parker's bows. Affordable quality would be a good description I think.
Between Bowtech, Hoyt, and Mathews, I would pick Mathews because of their focus on vibration control. I do not think they can be beat in terms of off the rack quietness. Had money been no object, I'd have bought a Conquest. Can't beat the deflex riser!
However, if someone left a free Hoyt or Bowtech on my doorstep with a ribbon around it, I would certainly be glad to take it. All make good products.

I had the chance to shoot a Tribute, it was like there was NO bow in your hand. The lack of movement/vibration was UNREAL., one of these days I would like to pick up an old recurve for fun. 7 weeks from today........ Solo

I bought a Switchback last year. I spent a lot of time shooting bows that had good reviews or that I had heard good things about. I decided on the Matthews and have been very pleased. It's fast, quiet and more accurate than my old bow. Bottoom line though, I bought it because of the way it felt and the reputation. It helped though that I got it cheaper than the Bowtech I was looking at. I think you made a good choice, but it's hard to go wrong nowadays.

Matt McPherson - is a smart man. He has a marketing machine and a company that makes quality products to compliment his marketing machine! I'm a VERY happy Mathews shooter ;D

I shoot a Mathews and own two of them (Conquest and Ovation). I love the bows and find nothing wrong with them. Some days I wake up and want to find something that everyone else isn't shooting though. It's just hard to find a place to shoot every bow at my 31" draw and compare. They would have to have the same stabilizer also. Since I can't do that, I just stick with Mathews.
